The Rapture: When Heaven Calls
By Brie Austin · Science fiction · Thriller · Suspense
The Rapture: When Heaven Calls is a science-fiction thriller by Brie Austin. When millions of people vanish, a journalist leads a small team racing to find out whether it is a biblical Rapture, a hoax, or an ancient cycle no religion understood. The manuscript is complete; publication is coming soon.
It starts with a car crash on a sunny day: seatbelt fastened, engine warm, no driver. Then the vanishings spread. Pilots disappear mid-flight, families mid-sentence, and phones record people dissolving into nothing. Half the world believes the prophecies have come true. The other half calls it a staged deception rooted in ancient alien lore.
Three camps rise in the chaos: a used-car salesman turned self-declared prophet, a newly born-again U.S. president using the moment to build a faith-driven order, and a handful of truth-seekers led by journalist Jerry Truman. With three scientists, an archaeologist and Sheriff Harmon from the rural town where the first disappearances were logged, Jerry follows a trail from desert relics and encoded scripture to Sumerian tablets and strange signals in the sky.
What they find suggests the believers and the skeptics were both partly right, and that humanity’s oldest stories may have been warnings, not promises.

Why a journalist at the center
Brie Austin has spent more than twenty years reporting from documents and direct sources. Jerry Truman works the same way: he refuses easy answers, follows the evidence, and asks who gains from the story everyone wants to believe.
