Business Events in NYC for May

As an entrepreneur or small business owner, there may be times that you might feel as thought the resources you need are difficult to find, or worse, not available.  This can leave leave you feeling as though you’re going it alone.

However, there are several events chock-full of resources that I highly recommend, and I’ve listed them below. If you can’t attend, I will be there and posting a report on them in early to mid May.

UPCOMING EXPO’s for May 2012

NY XPO ($15+) on May 2nd and 3rd at the Jacob Javitz Center, New York City.  With 10,000 attends, the event is in its 7th year and has a wide range of products and services to engage you.  They also have countless seminars covering topics such as lead generation, sales, marketing — email campaigns, social media, and brand development –, business opportunities,   e-commerce, Cloud infrastructures, and more.  Read the attendee demographics.

Small Business Expo (Free if pre-registered HERE) on May 10th at the Penn Plaza Pavillion, New York City; featuring the smal business owners luncheon with NYC commissioner Robert Wlash (Department of Small Business Services).  There is a full day of workshops covering all aspects of small business ownership; legal, going green, raising money, and growing your business.

BUSINESS NETWORKING GROUPS AND EVENTS

Another valueable resource for start-ups and on-going endeavers is to join local business networking group events.  Of the few I’ve attended in New York, these three caught my attention:

Connecting To Greatness events are always interesting and engaging. Kate is creative in her event presentations, and runs them very well: the group boasts over 3,000 members.

New York Entrepreneurs Business Network (NYEBN) has over 11,000 members, and most of the events I have attended of theirs were in upscale venues with fun and interesting people.

YCEEYA is a smaller group, with 200+ members, and is more of a friendship circle that hosts more social-oriented events; gatherings at a trendy bar, for example, where the attendees update each other on their latest achievements and challenges and new members have an opportunity to present what they do and who they are looking to connect with.
